This Fall, 3 Seeds Mentoring Group was rewarded a STEM grant to prepare our students for up and coming careers in the STEM fields. 3 Seeds will utilize the funding by providing exposure field trips to STEM related events, networking conferences and exhibitions. In addition to the STEM related field trips, the grant will help our 3 Seeds robotics team prepare competitions this upcoming spring semester.
3 Seeds High School Robotics team kicked off the season in December 2019. Preparing for a robotics battle against twenty other high schools at the 4th Annual Southworks Robotics Competition, students on the robotics team meet every wednesday afterschool to work on their choosen event. This year Southworks Robotics Competition will feature events like Auto Racer, Capault, Pathfinder, Sumo, Vex and the transporter.
Returning veterans of the team Bryan, Jordan, Alexis, Daveonna, and Jamiah will lead the charge as new team members prepare for the challenge. Students participating on 3 Seeds Robotics had the opportunity to meet with professionals in engineering, manufacturing and other STEM related fields at the Southworks Robotics & Engineering Meet and Greet at Prairie State College on January 23rd, 2020. During the Southworks Robotics & Engineering Meet and Greet our students meet with several industry professionals where they had the opportunity to talk about careers, summer internships and education needed to advance in robotics or engineering. The 4th Annual Southworks Robotics & Engineering Competition will take place on Saturday, April 25th, 2020 at South Suburban College.
In addition to the High School Robotics Team, Prairie Hills Junior High has started a robotics competition as well. Lead by Mr. Thomas, the Prairie Hills Robotics Team focused on building and operating S-Brick Cars and Sphero chariots. 3 Seeds/Prairie Hills Guardians of the S-Brick Robotics Competition will take place in early February 2020.
